Hi Alice, great read again. I'm new to Substack, and joined Ur Coffee and Confessions. Love all your post in there 2.. Im trying to quit smoking for the month of February, after 30 years..would love to keep a daily diary of my adventure.. ill still enjoy my coffee! Thanks for all your inspiring posts and have a wonderful night!
I had to chuckle at this: "When I feel adrift, I might find my answer by journalling or making bullet point notes, my delightful kids squalling around me like gulls." I have only 2 delightful children, but I immediately recognized this :) I'm amazed you get anything done Alice!
I read this and LOVED it last week and thought I'd replied. Getting back with the children and the bombardment of work/not-writing/school made me think 'She's right! Getting anything done is amazing (but I'm not sure I got anything done this week)!'
I’m sure you got a lot more done than you think Alice. If your house is not yet on fire and your children are fed, in my book, you’re doing just splendid :) sending you good writing vibes and courage!
Thanks, Kate. Over the next few days, now we're back, I'm putting some routines in place so I can actually see if any of my ruminating leads to new writing!

Quitting smoking is SO hard!!!! Thank you for connecting on here--I'll be quietly cheering you on.
Yes, and Thank you kindly!

Alice, the question you pose is a great one. I’ll be pondering this in my notebook tomorrow.
I hope you find good answers x
Yeah, such a simple but always important question!
For sure. And I like her emphasis on intrinsic motivation. So important.
It's nice when feeling a bit lost to come back to the answers.
Well said.
A timely post, Alice. I am ruminating on my next project as I finish editing the last one. I find it helpful to have a carrot ahead!
Thanks, Kate. Over the next few days, now we're back, I'm putting some routines in place so I can actually see if any of my ruminating leads to new writing!
