I can totally appreciate having that physical copy that you've cut and paste and ordered, can really help to organise one's brain! I hope it all goes really well for you!!
I've had family and friends enjoy reading my substack and tell me I should write a book. The thought of having to go back and edit everything I've already written and published is so overwhelming!! So, good on you!! Cheering you on!
Oh, take it one step at a time Debbie. You've got this! What if you start with something new? A glimmer of an idea? A possibility? Write it quietly in the mornings and see what it becomes. Fiction? Memoir?
I'm forever trying out new ways to attend to editing to get the most from those never-ending read-throughs... I do make changes as I go, though (I start each day's writing by going through the day before and making sure I'm happy with it), so I don't have a document like yours to play with using scissors and glue. Perhaps I should try it!
These were all the little (and big) notes from the last two years that I've just been throwing into a very long document. When I opened it, I realised it was 28 pages in no real order anymore. It was quite fun to get on the floor and figure out which notes I needed to address.
Now I'm trying to work out which one to start with this morning! There's still a lot to get through! I've given myself five weeks.
I do wish you luck! I'm following this adventure with your new genre from afar. And I love your new editing notes system, it's very inspiring, especially since I'm STILL editing too...and am wondering when will it end?! So I might see if I can't do something similar to get better organised with everything I still have to accomplish. Really interesting. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much, Sarah! I'm so glad to hear from you. I'm cheering you on with your writing, too. For this, I really needed to take a look at what still needed to be done. There were so many avenues and notes, some saying the same thing, some useful but forgotten, some from a reader.
My plan is to open up the folder and cross out things as I do them. On days when I can only handle small edits, I'll go to that page... I'll let you know how it works out!!!

Thanks for the encouragement ❤️ I'll keep writing memoir, but it might be awhile before I put the effort in to make it a published book!
Fair! The writing is the heart of it all, anyway xoxox

It must be exciting seeing it all come apart and then come together! All the best for you next five weeks.
Exciting and a little overwhelming!!! I keep reminding myself, one step at a time!
