I finished When Breath Becomes Air and I loved it! I listened to it to and from my daily radiation treatments, and it felt very fitting. I'm also bouncing between The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron, The Book of Alchemy by Suleika Jaouad, Tiny Beautiful Things by Cheryl Strayed, Yumi and the Nightmare Painter by Brandon Sanderson, and to take things in an entirely different direction, the Dexter series. Yes, it's normal for me to be reading five books at once, haha!
I'm so glad you loved it! I like the sound of all the things you're reading and I really enjoyed Dexter first time round--might be time for a rewatch! Season three was so good, it was hard to follow, perhaps?
I'm actually reading the Dexter series! It's been a long time since I watched the TV show, and the book series is more supernatural than I remember the TV show being.
I haven't yet tracked down a copy of When Breath Becomes Air... I must do something about that, although I feel a little reticent about thinking too hard about mortality. I'm still reading The House That Joy Built by Holly Ringland - a great follow up to Big Magic, and have recently picked up (ready to read) Bloomer by Carol Lefevre and Always Home, Always Homesick by Hannah Kent, both recommended to me by a random stranger I was sitting next to at a book launch for an anthology of stories written by children. She was there as an adoring grandmother and I as one of the authors who guided the kids through a writing workshop. It was one of those strange moments of unexpectedly 'clicking', and though we both went our separate ways after the event, we enjoyed that moment of bookish intimacy.
Oh, yes, thank you. I really like the sound of The House That Joy Built and I've managed this time to note it on my To Read list properly--I'm slowly making better systems for myself!

I never even thought about reading it! That sounds like a fun thing to do!
My reading is on track, slowly. I read before sleep. Not like when I did when younger. Two in a week. Large print goes faster at the present time..
So good to follow your posts. It's like having a fleeting glimpses of you in your workshops.
Blessings to your family. Comfort to Yan in this journey for him..
Truly Val Honey. The Devonshire girl.
Thanks so much, Val! Large print on paper books is what I'm doing by making my eReader font so much bigger!!!!

I'm so taken by the title of Always Home, Always Homesick. I'm going to look that up.
It's a very evocative title!
